My Story
To be perfectly honest, I was never much of a baker—ask anyone in my family who endured numerous creations that didn't turn out quite right, because I forgot an ingredient or didn't read the recipe all the way through before starting.
Then, in preparation for my oldest son's first birthday, I decided to delve into the world of fondant cakes. I went to Michaels and bought a ton of cake decorating supplies, and then I dove right in and winged it! I have always loved buying cool kitchen gadgets so I had all the stuff I needed to make a great cake for such a momentous birthday. I taught myself, researched online and asked a friend for help along the way, learning new tricks with each cake.
As it turned out, I found fondant fun and easy to work with - easier than baking, but I have gotten better, I promise! Inspired by one of my closest and dearest friends, who made my wedding cake, I started to make cakes for friends, family and moms from my local mom group. The cakes and cupcakes were so much fun to make and were a big hit.
People began telling me that I should go into business. I am a stay-at-home mom to two young, active boys and a newborn — so I am more of a hobby decorator, doing a few cakes here and there for people who hear about me by word of mouth.
Thanks to the thoughtfulness and talent of my sister and her fiancé, this website was created to launch me to the next level - being a Mompreneur. Working out of my small kitchen, after my kids are in bed, I love being challenged with new designs ~ sometimes pulling "all-nighters" in order to get a cake just so.
My sons have had very unique and fun birthday cakes — a tradition I plan to continue for a long time. My eldest loves to bake with me and learned to ice cupcakes at 18 months old. The best reward is seeing their faces when they are surprised with their cakes.
Of course, this story wouldn't be complete without telling you about the support of my fabulous husband, who has been asking me for years when I was going to take this to the next level and go into the cake business, buying me amazing cake cookbooks for inspiration and taking the kids to the park when I needed to make the final touches on my latest creation. He is a constant source of encouragement, and of course, always willing to be a taste tester!
