Baby's First Birthday Cake

Makes 12 slices (two-layer cake)

Preheat oven to 375 degrees
Two 9-inch round cake pans, greased and floured

• - 1 cup butter or margarine
• - 2 cups granulated sugar
• - 4 eggs
• - 3 cups cake-and-pastry flour
• - 2 tsp baking powder
• - ½ tsp salt
• - 1 cup 2% milk
• - 1 tsp vanilla extract

• In a large bowl cream together butter, sugar and eggs.
• In another large bowl sift together flour, baking powder, and salt.
• SIn a small bowl combine milk and vanilla. Alternately add flour and milk mixtures to egg mixture, mix until just blended.
• Pour batter into prepared cake pans and bake in preheated oven for 25-35 minutes or until toothpick inserted in centre comes out clean.
